This test is done to test the patency of fallopian tubes in females, who are anxious to conceive. In case of any block in the fallopian tubes or abnormal uterus, this test is very helpful.
Contrast dye is injected by female doctor into the uterus through a special canula and X ray of pelvis is done. This outlines the uterus and tubes. Sometimes this also cleanses the blocked tubes and helps in treatment for infertility.
