Mammography
A mammogram is a picture of your breast taken with a safe, low-dose X-ray machine. Your technologist will ask you to stand facing the mammography machine, and then place one breast at a time on a flat surface.
Indications for a Mammography:
- Preoperative mammography
- Evaluation of breast signs and symptoms Pain, mass, discharge, skin thickening, nipple retraction
- Follow up of breast cancer
- Work up of a patient with metastasis from an unknown primary tumor
- Mammographic screening
